ADRIAN, MI (WTOL) - Heidi Aldridge survived six weeks in a coma while suffering from the H1N1 virus during her pregnancy. She is calling it a miracle that her son Grady was delivered by cesarean section on Thursday.
Last November, Aldridge came down with the virus at 20 weeks pregnant. She was rushed to Toledo Hospital and put in a medically-induced coma.
Aldridge's mom, Patricia, says she was told to prepare for the worst. "They were telling us we were going to lose her, or the baby, or both," she said.
Patricia says prayers poured in and, after three weeks, she says those prayers were answered. Both Heidi and her unborn son survived the coma, which even surprised some doctors.
Though the effects of all of the medications are still unknown, Grady is a healthy 8 pounds, 13 ounces, and his family is cherishing his arrival.
