BRASILIA—A man being tested for Ebola doesn’t have a fever anymore, but the possibility of him having the deadly virus won’t be dismissed until blood test results are known Saturday morning, Brazilian Health Minister Arthur Chioro said Friday.

The patient, a 47-year-old man whose name wasn’t released by the ministry, is a Guinea national. He became ill Wednesday in the Brazilian southern town of Cascavel, where he lives, Mr. Chioro told reporters.

The health minister said that the man’s whereabouts before Wednesday aren’t relevant from an epidemic standpoint.

RIO DE JANEIRO?A West African man held in isolation at a Rio de Janeiro hospital on suspicion of bringing the deadly Ebola virus to South America has tested negative for the disease, the Health Ministry said Saturday.

The Health Ministry said the test results are preliminary and Mr. Bah will remain in isolation until a second exam has been conducted 48 hours after the first. Still, the patient is in good health and without fever.

The 64 people he was believed to have had contact with since arriving in Brazil on Sept. 19 will no longer be tracked, the ministry said.
