During the week of 22-28 November, Spain saw the first fall of A/H1N1 infections in several weeks. The infection rate currently stands at 243.71 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with 105,304 new cases registered during the week.

The level of infection stood at 371.68 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, just a week earlier, with 158,942 new cases reported.

The data back up the Spanish government?s prediction that cases of the flu would peak at the end of November.

Although the mortality rate remains low at 0.15 deaths per 1,000 cases, 169 people have lost their life to the virus in Spain.

Over 1 million Spaniards have now received the vaccine against the virus, according to the statement released Thursday by the Spanish government.

The influenza pandemic wave continues its downward trend

PAMPLONA, 9 Dec. (EUROPA PRESS) --
The wave of outbreaks of influenza A continued their downward trend in Navarra. The Sentinel Physician Network of Health Department reported Wednesday that in the week from 29 November to 5 December saw a ILI incidence of 108 cases per 100,000 in the population covered by the sentinel physician network (the previous week's figure was 252 cases).

The network also noted that sentinel low incidence of the disease in all age groups: 1.7 cases per 1,000 children under 5 years, 1.9 per 1,000 in children aged 5 to 14 years, 1.4 cases per 1,000 population aged 15 to 44 years, 0.7 cases per 1,000 in the group aged 45 to 64 years and 0.2 per 1,000 in over 65 years.

Regarding vaccination figures to date have been administered a total of 107,723 doses of seasonal influenza vaccine and 28,271 doses of vaccine against influenza A H1N1.
