Three students from Kandy diagnosed with A-H1N1 virus

Three samples of students, out of five sent to the Epidemiology unit from Kandy had been diagnosed positive for the AH1N1 strain of the influenza virus Dr. Risintha Premaratne Consultant Epidemiologist told Daily Mirror Online. The three students diagnosed are between the ages of 10 and 11 and are from leading schools in Kandy.

Dr Palitha Mahipala, Deputy Director General of the Health Services told Daily Mirror that the AH1N1 strain of the flu had already spread throughout leading Government and Internationals schools in Colombo and that the best they can do is to take steps to prevent further spread of the virus.
