RAMALLAH, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian woman died of the A/H1N1 virus in Gaza City Wednesday, bringing the death toll to five since the disease was diagnosed in the Israeli-blockaded enclave.

The health ministry of the deposed Hamas government said in a statement that the 26-year-old woman was admitted to hospital 10 days ago to deliver birth through Cesarean surgery and died on Wednesday.

During her time in the hospital, she was tested positive of theA/H1N1 flu, the statement added.

Hassan Khalaf, the deputy health minister, said that 21 people have been infected with the virus in the Gaza Strip and eight of them have recovered.

In the West Bank, the A/H1N1 has killed nine people since it was discovered in June.
