Sixth death in Spain by influenza A (H1N1)

July 27 2009, 08:57 Madrid, July 27 (PL) A man of 53 years, with a severe disease prior to today became the sixth fatality from influenza A (H1N1) in Spain, where more than one thousand 800 infected with the pandemic.
According to the Ministry of Health, the patient died from complications related to influenza A in the intensive care unit of a hospital in the town of Alzira in Valencia.
This is the sixth death in the country as a result of Iberian swine flu, and the second occurs in the region after the death of an Algerian of 45 years in Alicante, the past 20 days.
So far, Spain is 806 thousand laboratory-confirmed cases, health authorities reported.
In Europe over 17 thousand were detected 800 patients with about 40 deaths.
The Spanish Minister for Health and Social Policy, Trinidad Jimenez, on Monday will appear in Congress to report on actions to be taken by the Government to address the situation created by the pandemic.
