Inland Empire Swine flu deaths hit 13

INLAND EMPIRE ? Thirteen deaths attributed to Swine flu are being reported by local health officials and most have occurred in recent weeks.

Riverside County reported another death Thursday bringing its total to six. Most, if not all, of the victims had previous health conditions.

County Health Officer Dr. Eric Frykman says the outlook for the autumn and winter flu season is ominous?

?It?s a new virus so we don?t know what to expect. But, if the characteristics of the virus remain the same, we would expect there to be periodic deaths as the disease continues to spread throughout the community.?

The vaccine for the traditional flu is available now. The Swine flu vaccine is undergoing final tests before it is distributed in October. (INT)
