MOBILE, Alabama - The Mobile County Health Department says the death of a six-year-old boy on February 27 has been attributed to H1N1.

A total of four people in Mobile County have now died from swine flu. The first was in October 2009.

According to Dr. Bernard H. Eichold II, H1N1 is the dominant flu virus circulating in Mobile County.

?This should serve as a strong reminder of the need for everyone to take steps to get immunized,? Eichold says. ?Everyone is eligible for this safe vaccine, and it?s not too late.?

The Health Department (251 N. Bayou St.) offers free swine flu vaccinations Monday-Friday from 9 am until 3 pm. Appointments are not needed.

Parents are reminded that children less than 10 years old who have received the first dose of H1N1 vaccine need to get a second dose in order for the vaccine to be effective. The interval between the first and second dose should be at least 28 days.

Dunnam's 6-year old son Tucker died in February, but she relives his final days over and over.

"You're not supposed to lose a child," Dunnam says, "It's just not supposed to happen."

Tucker had a fever and had been throwing up the week before his death. Dunnam says she took him to the doctor several times. "It was so strange. He would come in and out of it. One day he would be fine."

On Feb. 26, Tucker got sick again, this time complaining of pain on his left side. Dunnam rushed Tucker to the hospital, where she says doctors told her Tucker had suffered a massive heart attack.

"While he was on the life support I prayed. I just wanted it to be me," Dunnam says. "I prayed for God to take me instead."

Tucker died the next day when he was taken off life support. Dunnam says she later found out that H1N1 contributed to his death, but he also had strep bacteria in his blood.

Dunnam says she didn't get Tucker the H1N1 vaccine; she she worried about possible side effects. Now, she says she's changed her mind. "I would suggest to anyone, if there is a vaccine to make sure to get it."
