A 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit Okinawa at 5:31am on Feb. 27th (JST), but little damage was reported.

A 6.9 magnitude earthquake shook Okinawa, Japan and generated fears of a potentially large tidal wave in the early hours of the local morning of February 27th, but little damage result.
According to the Japan Meteorological agency (JMA), the 6.9 quake hit at 5:31am (JST), originating approximately 50km (31miles) east of Naha City and 10km (6miles) underground ? Naha is the capital city of Okinawa Prefecture. The quake was caused by a strike-slip fault, a fault where the rocks on either side slide horizontal and parallel to each other.
