COLCHESTER, Vt. -- St. Michael's College is reporting they have five confirmed cases of H1N1.
"As of last Wednesday, we started seeing students with flu-like symptoms. We tested five. They came back positive for H1N1 and we had up to 40 students by the end of the day on Friday with flu-like symptoms," said Mary Masson, the director of Student Health Services.
That's the number of flu cases the Colchester college typically sees for the entire year.
Masson believes the majority of those cases were likely H1N1, but only five students were tested for the virus.
To help aid sick students in their recovery, the school has "flu-kits" on hand that provide the basics.
Other than that, Masson said time provides the best medicine when it comes to healing, and education is key in stopping the spread.
Masson said the students who came down with the H1N1 flu have since recovered and are doing well. She also said the school is supposed to be getting 200 nasal spray vaccines in by the end of this week with the H1N1 vaccine shots soon to follow.
