(IsraelNN.com) The Health Ministry reported on Sunday that a 65-year-old man died at Rambam Hospital in Haifa after being diagnosed with the H1N1 swine-flu virus.
The man had other illnesses but the ministry said it could not rule out the role of the virus in the man's death. He is the 46th person to die in Israel from about a hundred times as many who have been diagnosed with the disease. A 65-year-old man died Sunday at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa after being infected with H1N1 virus. He suffered from serious chronic diseases, thus the link between his death and the flu could not be proven, the Health Ministry said. He was the 46th official victim of the H1N1 flu since last spring.
Meanwhile, the ministry said there has in recent months been an increase in the prevalence of the mumps, especially in the Jerusalem region. The viral disease usually passes without incidence but in some cases can cause serious complications. Children who undergo routine vaccinations against the mumps do not get infected, but as some children in haredi and other homes do not get fully vaccinated, they may get infected.
