Another person has died due to complications caused by the A/H1N1 flu virus, director of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases Zvonko Milenkovic said on Saturday.
Dr. Milenkovic informed that a 34-year old person was admitted to the clinic with a deteriorating health condition. - Due to complications caused by progressive bronchopneumonia, the person died within less than 60 hours, said the doctor.
This is the third swine flu fatality in Macedonia following the deaths of two men aged 32 and 77 years respectively.
Chairwoman of the Pandemic Flu Committee Jovanka Kostovska said that 2,600 people have been tested positive for H1N1 flu so far. - This figure is not worrisome, but it is expected to increase, she added.
Minister of Health Bujar Osmani said Macedonia was one of the first countries in the region to launch vaccination of health workers, adding that as of next week people of risky groups would be vaccinated.
- There's plenty of vaccines for all those who will come voluntarily to be vaccinated. We ask the public not to run a campaign against vaccination, because it successfully tackles the consequences. We encourage vaccination and urge the citizens to be vaccinated, stressed Osmani.
The first 20,000 vaccines from Swiss company Baxter are due to arrive this coming week.
