Four deaths reported in Kitsap as flu season escalates

Tad Sooter , Kitsap Sun 5:45 p.m. PT Jan. 5, 2017 BREMERTON — Health officials have reported four influenza-related deaths in Kitsap County this season and five outbreaks at long-term care facilities, with flu activity still on the rise.
Kitsap Public Health District spokeswoman Karen Bevers said two flu-related deaths occurred in December followed by two in January. Three of the deceased were older adults who were vaccinated against the flu but had underlying medical conditions. Details on the fourth death, announced Thursday, were not immediately available...
