24 peacocks die in Himachal Pradesh

At least 24 peacocks were found dead under mysterious circumstances in a forest in Mandi valley, about 180 km from here, officials said Saturday.
The peacock is a National bird, mostly found in sparsely forested areas in India and are protected by the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.
The carcasses in the Mandi valley were first discovered by villagers who informed the forest officials.
Officials immediately rushed to the spot but were clueless on the deaths of the birds.
Officials are investigating to find out the cause. Villagers said scavengers were feeding on the carcasses.
