Respiratory infections and flu situation

According to the report submitted by the National Communicable Disease Surveillance at the Ministry of Health in the week 17 -23 January 2011, the total number of reported acute respiratory infections is 91 062, rising by 16% compared to that recorded in the previous week.
At week 17 -23 January 2011 were confirmed 31 cases of flu and has been recorded death in a child in Satu-Mare.
Epidemiologists say that there was an average incidence of acute respiratory infections that exceeded the basal level, but were not exceeded the maximum expected.
As a result, there is onset of flu season, influenza activity with moderate evolving in local outbreaks (counties of Iasi and Constanta) and the rest of sporadic cases.
Distribution of cases by county last week:
Synopsis - see link for Table: 24 cases of A/H1N1, 1 H3N2, 6 B reported last week. One fatality in Satu Mare district.
Sincebeginning of surveillance of respiratory infections and gripelor (October 2010) anduntil now have been detected 46 influenza viruses of which :
- 36 influenza virus type H1N1
- 8 type B influenza viruses
- two types of influenza viruses AH3N2
Were recorded in all four deaths.
