2009 influenza A(H1N1) pandemic in indigenous and aboriginal populations of North America and Oceania

Description: During the 2009 influenza A(H1N1) pandemic, the risk of suffering from more severe forms of the disease and death has been observed to be higher among young children, pregnant women and all people with underlying medical conditions ? so called ?risk groups?. Additionally analyses have identified increased risk of severe disease in certain social groups notably so-called indigenous and aboriginal populations in North America and the Pacific. What follows is a description of two analyses (one from North America and one from New Zealand) and a review from the Institut de Veille Sanitaire on this subject along with an ECDC comment on the subject
