In two patients suspected of H1N1 die in IPS
Two patients in intensive care at the Hospital Central del Instituto de Previsi?n Social (IPS) died yesterday morning due to influenza, although not yet confirmed whether it is the H1N1, as their samples are still being studied in the laboratory.
One victim was a woman of 31 years, who lost her baby 17 weeks of gestation because of the disease. The other is a man of 53 years who had undergone a kidney transplant. Both had multiorgan failure.
Currently 20 patients are housed in the Adult Intensive Care IPS, all with evolution but with prediction stationary reserved.
They continue with mechanical ventilation, except for a pregnant woman of 32 years, with 28 weeks of gestation, which meets face-mask and oxygen saturation.
Two of the patients are in a delicate, high ventilatory parameters, as explained by Dr. Amalia Molinas, head of intensive therapy of IPS.
He added that ten of the inmates had influenza A. (seasonal flu) and are all suspected H1N1, with tests to confirm. So far only 6 have been confirmed in patients with H1N1 in the service, of which 1, female, died last week. The other 5 are still interned.
Moreover, in the Intensive Care Child IPS are five small houses, two of them are suffering from influenza A H1N1 and are evolving positively.
Moreover, according to Ernesto Weber, head of Child Therapy, the girl of 8 years, which comes from Ciudad del Este, is parameterized by high pulmonary complication, but stable.
One of the male patients, aged 14, who was admitted last Thursday, had a complication.
BEDS IN THERAPY
Currently in the Intensive Care Unit Children, IPS, has 4 beds 5 beds occupied and free for suspected and confirmed cases of H1N1. Besides, there are 6 beds for patients with diseases other than influenza. Furthermore, therapy rooms 3 adults has enabled patients with IRAs, with 8 beds each.
