Two out of the five patients in Singapore who contracted listeria disease this year were infected by a strain similar to the one found in a patient in Australia who was affected by a deadly listeriosis outbreak linked to rock melons there.

In a news release on Monday (16 April), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that of the two cases, one patient has fully recovered while the other died for ?reasons not due to the listeria infection?.

MOH noted that its initial investigations into the five cases here did not show a link between them and the Australian outbreak, adding that its National Public Health Laboratory has since completed its further laboratory investigations into the matter...
