Flu season might be getting an early start in Erie County.
Two cases of influenza were reported Sept. 3 to the Erie County Department of Health, months before the traditional beginning of flu season. The two cases involved different flu strains and were not related.
"Sporadic flu cases are common and they aren't a predictor of an early or late flu season," said Charlotte Berringer, R.N., director of community health for the county Health Department.
