WEST PALM BEACH ? Health officials this morning confirmed Palm Beach County's 14th death from swine flu complications.

The 40-year-old man had been hospitalized, according to a statement. However, the name of the hospital was not immediately released.

The man's death brings the total number of Palm Beach County residents hospitalized with the H1N1, or swine flu virus to 94; and to 47 the number of people who have been were admitted to hospital ICUs, according to the health department.

"We extend our sincere sympathies to the family of this gentleman," Palm Beach County Health Department Director, Alina Alonso said in the statement. "We want to remind residents that this pandemic continues to claim lives and unfortunately the H1N1 virus is still active."

She added that the virus is preventable by getting vaccinated. Further, she warned that because novel H1N1 is a new virus, many people may have little or no immunity against it, and illness may be more severe as a result.
