The Minister of Health of Costa Rica, Maria Luisa Avila confirmed to Xinhua today the death of 12 influenza A (H1N1) in the country.
"This is a man of 39 years, asthma, hypertension and morbid obesity, who was in the intensive care unit of a hospital in the province of San Jos?," said the minister.
The official explained that the deaths that have occurred are primarily in high-risk individuals, which are complicated by other illnesses and are exacerbated by the presence of the virus.
Have so far been 503 confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) in this country, while there are 23 other people as "probable", pending confirmation from the laboratories of the Ministry of Health. End
