Cameroon: resurgence of bird flu in Bafoussam

The new case is the second reported in Bafoussam since the beginning of the epidemic declared in June at a farm Mfoundi Centre.

The regional delegation of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries was seized Wednesday by a farmer of that firm who had seen the deaths of nearly 6,000 cattle herd.

According to the governor 16,000 other chickens will be destroyed this weekend if results of analyzes confirm that it is bird flu.

Meanwhile, Awa Fonka Augustine recommended Thursday ranchers Bafoussam poultry chain to respect the rules of hygiene and biosecurity.

This new case comes as Interprofession the poultry sector in Cameroon is seeking support for the succession of this sector which registered losses estimated at CFAF 10 billion because of bird flu.

The Interprofession calls on the government to support farmers with two million chicks 1 day, medicines of around 450 million FCFA and 20,000 tons of corn.
