Does this mirror the computer model - shown as an animated map in this thread?

I cannot get it to work - sql error.
I am also wondering if it is true for all influenza outbreaks that 33% of the population does not show any symptoms (and therefore spreads the virus)?

The map above only shows the CDC confirmed cases. It is not known how many other individuals in the US are asymptomatic or only have mild symptoms. The comparison of the spread and timing of H1N1 swine flu to computer models may only be available long after the event has concluded. The R0, or reproductive number, discussed in the thread you reference, is difficult to ascertain early in an epidemic. The numbers are not clear, but at least several of the confirmed cases in the USA were infected in Mexico. The number of people that these individuals infect in the USA will begin to give us an idea of transmissibility of the virus.

. . . I am also wondering if it is true for all influenza outbreaks that 33% of the population does not show any symptoms (and therefore spreads the virus)?
Certainly there are some individuals that are asymptomatic after infection with a novel virus. Also, even in naive population, a proportion of the population will not become infected from a novel virus. I am not sure that epidemiologists have reliable estimates on those percentages.

Thank you for sharing this map. It appears a little different from the google maps. How often do you get the update. I would like to put a link on my website http://SwineH1N1.com as the google map is slow to load. Also, I'm looking for the AP feed to put onto the site and translate into 9 languages. Thanks in advance for your input.

The data is from the CDC report: http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/

I am currently updating the map once a day based on the CDC count.
