Four persons die of suspected anthrax in Orissa</ARTTITLE>

PTIKORAPUT: Four persons have died due to suspected anthrax in Sunabeda and Semiliguda areas of the district in the last ten days, official sources said on Sunday.
While Dhana Pangi, a resident of Pangifuda in Sunabeda died after consuming rotten meat, three others - Ratnei Khora, Jumi Khora and Rama Jani of Luhaba village in Semiliguda lost their lives after eating stale meat, chief district veterinary officer S K Takri said.
They showed post-anthrax complications, he said adding, all the animals in and around these villages were immunised as a precautionary measure.
Some others had also developed symptoms of anthrax such as abnormal swellings and boils all over their body, he said.
Dr K H Reddy, in-charge of Sunabeda primary health centre, said the situation was under control with teams of doctors and health workers visiting affected areas with medicines and vaccines for providing instant treatment to the affected and the patients admitted in hospitals. :tiphat: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...ted_anthrax_in_Orissa/articleshow/2753426.cms
