The state Department of Health and Hospitals reports that there have been 66 confirmed deaths from flu in Louisiana since early October. 5 of those who died were children and two of them were from southeast Louisiana.
It's estimated that 650,000 people in Louisiana have come down with the virus since the season began last fall.

The flu season may continue into early April.
