La Paz, June 5 .- The health authorities of Bolivia have vaccinated more than half a million people against human influenza, as part of a government campaign to stop the spread of H1N1 virus in the country, according to a official source.

The manager of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), Max Enriquez said on Saturday told the state agency ABI that "we are pleased to have vaccinated more than 500 thousand people," free.

"We are in 40 percent of our goal and we are confident that what has been done is to provide security to the health of the population," the official added.

He claimed that in the region of Chuquisaca was achieved 84 percent of vaccination in the department of Beni 62 percent, and in Cochabamba and Potosi rates of 58 percent coverage to the most vulnerable to the disease.

Enriquez noted that the department of Oruro was recorded only about 15 percent vaccination, which he attributed to "lack of information", while in Tarija level reached 21 percent and in La Paz to 25 percent.

The Ministry of Health of Bolivia began in April a free vaccination campaign against influenza A/H1N1, which applies to groups at risk in more than 380 health facilities in first, second and third level.

The unit provides vaccinate within 45 days of the campaign to 1.3 million people who are studying chronic diseases, pregnant women and health personnel at all levels of care in Bolivia. (With information from Notimex / JJJ)
