    Chandigarh sees season’s first swine flu death

    The city reported first swine flu death of the season after a 42-year-old Sector 37 resident, Shyam Verma, died at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, on Thursday evening.

    So far, four swine flu cases have been reported in the city. Swine flu is a respiratory disease with symptoms that include fever, coughing, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body ache and fatigue.

      56-year-old man dies of swine flu in Chandigarh

      A 56-year-old man died of swine flu at a hospital here today, a health official said.

      The deceased, who was diabetic and had hypertension, died at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32 here, he said.


      "The patient was referred from the government hospital at Sector 16 here yesterday in a serious condition" he said.

        Swine flu claims two more lives

        Swine flu claimed two more lives today. While one patient was from the city, the other was from Kurukshetra in Haryana. So far, six persons have died of swine flu.
        Dr Gaurav Aggarwal, nodal officer of the UT Health Department, said a 35-year-old patient from Sector 52 in Chandigarh was suffering from tuberculosis.
