  • Croatia: first case of Tamiflu resistance ?

It seems the writer is mixing up a mutation related to Tamiflu resistance and a mutation related to... , well related to something we don't know yet.

Swine flu virus mutated in Osijek?

After the Norwegian scientists have announced that the swine flu virus mutated, one such case was recorded in Osijek.

Josip Ivic, the head of the Osijek-ICU and told the new list of Osijek case patient infected with a virus H1N1.

The patient was immediately copied the coming five-day treatment drug Tamiflu. Although the first laboratory findings were negative, all symptoms are said to have a swine flu.

"Virus has mutated and become resistant to Tamiflu"

"But after he was already in therapy, we re-send the sample to the test and then we get a positive laboratory findings, which, despite treatment showed that the virus is present in the body. This means that the mutated virus and seem to become resistant to Tamiflu "said Ivic.

It is interesting that they are in contact with him were his wife and children, but none of them is sick. "This is a disease of which seems to be little we know," commented Dr. Ivic.

The patient is successfully recovering in University Hospital Osijek, and was taken off the respirator. Doctors believe that the days begin to eat normally.

NAKON što su norveški znanstvenici objavili kako je virus svinjske gripe mutirao, jedan takav slučaj zabilježen je u Osijeku.

odd, Dutchy. Usually it's the other way around. Testing positive, and then negative after so many days (at least in Vietnam it's that way).

Yes, it is not an official press release or study, so handle with care.

It seems that the cited mutation was related to Tamiflu resistance - the presence of the virus in a sample taken during the treatment with Tamiflu.

But after several worldwide G/E/... mutations, of which several areas are in the European cont. countries, some even bordering,
the "other" mutations probably will, if already not, influx all the areas, and world wide.
