    Netherlands - Mink infected again - Total to 69 affected mink farms - No more mink farms in The Netherlands, all farms are closed.

    Mink infected again, now in Wilbertoord and Overloon

    OVERLOON / WILBERTOORD - The corona virus has been diagnosed at mink farms in Wilbertoord and Overloon. The Ministry of Health reports this Monday morning.

    The animals are culled as soon as possible. In Wilbertoord this concerns 1250 mother animals, in Overloon about 7500.

    The infection was discovered at the first farm because the mink showed signs of disease. The company in Overloon came into the picture through early warning ", the monitoring system in which animals are tested for the virus every week.

    A total of 52 mink farms in the Netherlands have now been declared infected.

    At a mink farm in Meijel (municipality of Peel en Maas) an infection with SARS-CoV-2 has been confirmed. The company has approximately 6,500 dams. The contamination came to light from the 'early warning', the monitoring system in which animals are tested for the virus every week. The animals will be culled as soon as possible.

    A total of 54 mink farms in the Netherlands have now been declared infected.

The contamination came to light from the 'early warning', the monitoring system in which animals are tested for the virus every week. The animals will be culled as soon as possible.

      A total of 55 mink farms in the Netherlands have now been declared infected.

The infection has come to light through reports of disease symptoms in the mink. The animals will be culled as soon as possible.

        A total of 56 mink farms in the Netherlands have now been declared infected.

            Corona contamination on mink farm in Neer: 4,000 animals culled

            A corona virus infection has been detected at a mink farm in Neer. A total of about four thousand mother animals are culled.
            The Ministry of Health reports the contamination.

            The contamination came to light because the mink had symptoms of disease. They will be cleared as soon as possible, writes the national government.

            In total, 58 of the approximately 128 mink farms in the Netherlands have now been diagnosed with infections.

                      68th mink farm infected

                      The corona virus has been diagnosed in mink at a mink farm in Meerlo, in the north of Limburg. The company has about 7,000 mother animals. The infection came to light through a report of symptoms in mink.

                      A total of 68 mink farms in the Netherlands have now been declared infected, more than half of the total. In August it became clear that the cabinet wants all mink farms to close next year. That is ahead of schedule, as a result of the corona infections.

                      Last month it was announced that the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority is investigating deliberate infections on mink farms, because the number of infected farms continued to increase despite stricter measures. There were no concrete indications of intent.

                            ... The Danish genome sequences were recently released on a public database, allowing scientists in other countries to look for evidence of the mutation.

                            Prof Wim van der Poel, a veterinary expert at Wageningen University, said analysis of genetic data from the Netherlands revealed one previous case of the mutation at a mink farm there in early May.

                            He told BBC News: "We have once seen a mutant virus with a comparable mutation in the spike protein encoding region, in mink in the Netherlands, but this mutant did not spread to humans and the mink of the involved farm were culled."
