    Categories the reported case is confirmed.

    Since the beginning of the year the number of reported 2 cases.For the same period last year reported no cases of infection caused by West Nile virus.The deviation from the previous year (2).

        Child sick from WNV

        A 12-year-old child survived a serious illness from WNV, announced the Regional Health Directorate in Varna.

        Kid of Avren with. Trastenik. Populous his family, which has a total of 5 children lived near marshland full of mosquitoes. It brings back rare acute viral infection after contact with infected birds.

        The first symptoms are fever, headache, muscle and joint pain.

        Fever is treatable, but delay in therapy, there is a risk of serious damage to the nervous system. In case the child has developed encephalitis and nearly a month being treated at University Hospital "St. Mary."

        Already been written, but there may be residual movement disorders, said Acting Director of RHI Dr. Dochka Mihailova. According to her, this is the first case of West Nile virus in Varna. After serological samples confirmed the diagnosis, the health authorities approached vets in the region. So far, no evidence of sick animals healthy and have other members of the family of child morbidity, said Dr. Mihailova.
