The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Cairo, organized a consultative meeting and workshop for the development of an avian influenza control and control strategy in Egypt for the next five years. Mahrez confirmed that work is under way to develop a sophisticated and integrated system to eradicate avian influenza and other bird diseases in Egypt in cooperation with all concerned authorities, universities and scientific research destinations, and will be presented for discussion and discussion before final approval, while working to support the executive sector of veterinary medicine and the development of units And the establishment of a unified system to monitor the effective use of vaccines and vaccines within this system, FAO is requested to provide the required and usual support to reduce the spread of avian influenza in Egypt within this system.
"This meeting comes as a complement to previous consultative meetings, with the aim of developing a strategic plan to control avian flu in Egypt for the next five years in cooperation with all stakeholders. These meetings concluded the need to review and update the avian influenza control strategy, Efforts to support small farms in enhancing biosecurity, ensuring the proper use of vaccines, and using modern technology in the mapping of poultry farms in Egypt. "
Lutfi Allal, head of the team of the Emergency Center for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) of FAO in Egypt, said that over the past months, the organization organized a series of consultative meetings in Cairo and Rome with all those concerned with the poultry sector in Egypt from the public and private sectors Including vaccine companies and vaccines, to assess Egypt's avian influenza efforts over the past 10 years at the level of disease control policies, laws, logistics and human capacity building, as well as developing new ideas and plans for controlling the disease in Egypt.
Dr. Geoff Gilbert, FAO consultant for the development of the strategy of intervention and control of avian influenza in Egypt, presented the results of his intensive meetings with government, private and poultry sector agencies over the past few weeks. The meeting recommended changing the behavior of consumers from live birds to frozen or chilled birds, developing the marketing system for receiving birds from domestic education or small and medium farms, slaughtering them in slaughterhouses, selling them to the consumer at reasonable prices, setting controls for diagnosis in private veterinary laboratories, licensing them from veterinary services, Immediate reporting of any positive cases of avian influenza and stimulation through compensation with specific controls, and the selection of 6 villages in some governorates of the Delta and Upper Egypt to work to develop an advanced model for the eradication of avian influenza and provide all possibilities of vaccines Priority and the application of biosecurity measures and safe disposal of ?Sblh? and farm waste and follow up on the success of the experiment and the elimination of the disease to circulate after the rest of the villages, in addition to addressing the importance of activating the legislation and regulations governing these processes.
"The project was developed with an updated vision and plans of action, drawing on previous experience and infrastructure established over the past years and proceeding according to specific time plans and follow-up and evaluation mechanisms so that significant progress can be made in the next few years," said Tony Al-Attal, head of operations at FAO.
