To date in 2016, 10 patients have been tested for influenza at the time of entry into South Africa following travel abroad and 3 have tested influenza positive.
Patients known to have acquired influenza abroad are not included in the table or epidemiological curve.

The 2016 RSV season which started in week 8 (week ending 28 February) continues, with a detection rate of 53% in pneumonia patients in week 18. In 2016 to date RSV has been detected in the specimens of 54 patients in the ILI programme, 19 from the Viral Watch and 375 from patients in the pneumonia surveillance programme. |
