Coronavirus in Algeria: The toll is increasing, 42 new cases and 1 death
This Wednesday, April 22, the Ministry of Health identified no less than 99 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total count to 2910 positive cases. Concerning the deaths, we deplore 10 new deceased people. While the number of healings increased to 1204.
Algeria now has 2,910 patients infected with the coronavirus. This is what Professor Djamel Fourar, spokesperson for the Scientific Committee for monitoring the evolution of the coronavirus in Algeria, said on Wednesday. In fact, 99 new confirmed cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours.
According to the assessment of the Ministry of Health, the wilayas having recorded the most cases since yesterday are S?tif with 12 new cases, Tiaret and Adrar 10 new cases each. As for the wilaya of Blida, which recorded 9 new cases since yesterday, it still remains the wilaya most affected by the pandemic in Algeria with 701 contaminations. It is still followed by Algiers, which has a total of 461 infections (+1 case) and Oran, which has 175 infected people (+7 cases).
Algeria records new healings: towards a progressive deconfinement?
Regarding the deaths, the representative of the Ministry of Health said that 10 new people died from the virus. With these new deaths, the death toll of Covid-19 has dropped to 402. In addition, the new death toll has reported 52 new healings recorded in the past 24 hours. The number of people recovered from the disease in Algeria thus rose to 1,204 in total.
Note that Dr. Fawzi Derrar, director of the Pasteur Institute of Algeria (IPA) had indicated this morning, on the waves of the national radio, that a plan of progressive deconfinement can henceforth be envisaged in Algeria. "The plan for the lifting of containment should be started in the wilayas which recorded less contamination", he had stressed while ensuring that "the pandemic situation in Algeria is stable according to the laboratory data and the number of samples subject to analysis ”.
