About 100 chickens found dead in MP, sent for tests
Khargone (MP), Feb 01: Nearly 100 chicken were found dead in three villages in the area in last three days, following which officials have sent samples from the dead birds to the High Security Animal Disease Laboratory (HSADL) in Bhopal to conduct bird flu tests.
The chicks were found dead in the villages of Loharia, Satwarda and Jamli under Bhikangaon Tehsil area in Khargone district, deputy director, veterinary services, Laxman Singh Baghel said.
"Nearly 50-60 samples were collected from the villages and sent for testing to the Bhopal based laboratory," he said adding that only the laboratory report can confirm whether it is bird flu.
However, another veterinary doctor attached with the district laboratory, Vijay Ojha, who visited the affected villages, claimed the death was due to the prevailing cold conditions in the region.
Local residents like Gulab Singh and Amar Singh of Loharia village fear that bird flu has knocked at their village and since the death of the birds, people in the region have stopped eating chicken, they claimed.
