VOLGOGRAD. April 12 (Interfax) - Bird flu has been confirmed as the reason behind the death of poultry in the village of Kolobrodovo in the Frolovo district of the Volgograd region.
Twenty-five birds died on Tuesday evening, the district administration told Interfax.
"A local veterinary laboratory confirmed that the blood of the dead birds contained the H5N1 virus and sent samples to Vladimir where the type of virus is to be identified," the administration said.
This is the second registered case of bird flu in the Volgograd region. In late March bird deaths were registered in the village of Vesely of the Koteknikovo district in the Volgograd region.
