Two persons have died of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in Amreli district so far. The deadly disease that has reared its ugly head again after a long hiatus claimed a man and a woman of Kariyana village in Amreli district.

Dr Dinkar Raval, deputy director (epidemic), said the two deaths reported were due to CCHF while four persons have tested positive. He rubbished media reports that seven people had died of the disease in all.

?Apart from the two confirmed CCHF deaths, no other casualty has been reported. Earlier, a 39-year-old woman died on her way to Rajkot. No sample was collected from her. But she had not reported high fever, a major symptom of CCHF and hence, infection can be ruled out as the cause of her death,? said Raval, adding that the other two who died were both over 90 years old.
