TEGUCIGALPA .- "Wash your hands" is the slogan to be used nationwide to call the people to get in the habit of cleanliness in their hands and avoid a number of diseases in children.
According to UNICEF, with hand washing could reduce half of child deaths.
The Handwashing Day was instituted by the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) two years ago. Studies have established that washing hands with soap before eating and after using the bathroom, half could reduce child deaths from diarrhea. That would also reduce the incidence of respiratory infections, including pneumonia.
HABIT
In recent days, health authorities have tried to create the habit of washing hands to avoid getting seasonal flu and H1N1, among other infectious diseases.
Both public and private hospitals and the Social Security Institute (IHSS) will hold events to mark the World Day for Handwashing
