Murtala said thousands of poultries died that was spread in 11 regencies/the city, namely Takalar, Makassar, Luwu Timur [East], Luwu Utara [North], Soppeng, Pinrang, Parepare, Sidrap, Barru, Bulukumba and Bone. Now 13 regencies/the other city, was stated free from the virus.
Wajo previously reported deaths of infected chickens, but according to this report is now free of bird flu.

An Indonesian blogger reports on the death of chicken and possible human infections of H5N1 from Maros Regency, also in South Sulawesi.
