Tanjungpinang (AFP) - The government Bintan regency, Riau Islands province can not eliminate positive poultry infected with bird flu because the owner hopes to take advantage of it to poultry diets Idul Fitri day.
Head of Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bintan regency Kartini said, as many as eight chickens in Kampung Bugis, Bintan Utara Sub-district, s Bintan positive bird flu, but can not be destroyed because the owner will cut the chicken for food Eid 1430 AH
"We were surprised the owner did not feel worried about the chicken, but we have to socialize citizens of the dangers of bird flu around," said Kartini who contacted AFP from Tanjungpinang, Sunday.
He pointed out, the owner of eight chickens are just one family but there are fears the virus will be transmitted to poultry in the vicinity.
"With so we request the owner had the chicken signed an affidavit if there is a thing against him and the people around are not the responsibility of the government," he said.
Kartini said the government has no specific budget to replace the birds that have been destroyed due to bird flu positive.
He said, personally prepared to give compensation to people who destroyed poultry, only concerned about the other owners of infected poultry bird flu demanding the same thing.
"We do not have a specific budget to replace the destroyed poultry," he said.
Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bintan District will conduct substance desinsektan spraying around the cage to kill germs.
"We hope that citizens do not remove poultry from their cages during the last spraying substances germ killers," he said.
During mid-August 2009 until now, he said, the government has found three cases of bird flu in the district of North Bintan, Bintan regency.
