By J. DAVID GOODMAN
As my colleague Andrew Jacobs reports, the village of Wukan in the industrial heartland of Guangdong Province in China is in open rebellion against local authorities, residents say.
Percolating for months, resentment over land seizures by the authorities in the coastal village of 20,000 people, about 130 miles east of Shenzhen, boiled over on Monday after residents learned that a 42-year-old man, chosen to represent them in talks with the authorities over unrest, died in police custody.
