Barisal, Sep 2 (bdnews24.com) ? Three children have died of diarrhoea in Barisal after taking measles vaccine, which relatives and locals said had 'expired'.
The incident took place at Kalikapur village under Guabaria Union of Hizla Upazila on Wednesday night. The 10-month old children are 'Ritam', 'Trishna', and 'Tama'.
Two investigation committees have been formed to look into the matter, one by five members of the Upazila Health Centre and another comprising six members by Barisal civil surgeon. The committees were asked to submit reports by a week.
The families and the locals claimed that the three children had died because the vaccines had expired.
Upazila health officer Dr Shubhankar Baroi told bdnews24.com: "We have no expired vaccines in the stock. 12 children were vaccinated on Wednesday. The remaining nine are well..."
