S1 is pretty different from all the other H7N9 viruses.
And it's not just only accumulation of mutations in the hosts
due to prolonged disease or H2H, nor just sequencing errors.
Because some of the mutations are also in the H9N2
poultry index (East China, ~2010)
so it could have been another introduction or the previous strain
which then died
segment 5 is clearly reassorted, but probably also 2 and maybe even 1,
which has 2 mutations in common with the poultry-index
Waiting for other sequences similar to S1 ... poultry H9N2 would be fine ...
they have 80000 samples, test them for H9N2 ?!?
