    Pontianak – A 5-year-old girl from Toho, Kabupaten Pontianak, died after being treated for few hours in Soedarso regional hospital, Pontianak, West Kalimantan. The girl is suspected of having bird flu H5N1 infection.

    Wingky’s mother, Ratna, said her daughter died on Saturday evening (24/7) in Soedarso hospital. Wingky had been having high fever for a week before and then admitted to a public health center in Toho. Because illness continued, Wingky was then transferred to Rubini regional hospital in Mempawah, Kabupaten Pontianak. Later the hospital referred the girl to Santo Antonius hospital in Pontianak.

    “After a day treated in Santo Antonius hospital, my daughter was then referred to Soedarso hospital and isolated as bird flu suspect patient,” Ratna added.

    Ratna mentioned her daughter showed symptoms such as fever, coughing, breathing difficulty, and sore throat. Soedarso hospital had collected patient’s blood sample to be tested for H5N1.

    Within last two months, six children have been treated as bird flu suspect patient in Soedarso hospital. All of them were tested negative.

    It is unclear whether Wingky had any contact with birds, because the family doesn’t rear any birds. However, patient’s parents said many chicken deaths were found in their neighborhood.

    Patient Suspect Bird Flu Deaths in Pontianak

    Pontianak (ANTARA) - Wingky (5) warga Toho Kabupaten Pontianak, pasien suspect flu burung akhirnya meninggal dunia setelah sempat dirawat beberapa jam di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Soedarso Pontianak, Provinsi Kalimantan Barat. "Anak saya menghembuskan napas terakhirnya, Sabtu sore (24/7) sekitar pukul 17.00 WIB," kata Ratna (27), ibu korban di Pontianak, Minggu.
    Ia mengatakan, anaknya sudah sepekan mengalami demam panas tinggi. "Semula kami mengira anak saya mengalami demam biasa sehingga hanya dibawa ke Puskesmas terdekat di Toho, karena tidak mengalami perubahan, akhirnya dibawa ke Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Rubini di Mempawah, Kabupaten Pontianak.
    Kemudian rumah sakit itu, kembali merujuk pengobatan anaknya ke Rumah Sakit Santo Antonius Pontianak.
    "Setelah sehari menjalani perawatan di Rumah Sakit Santo Antonius, kemudian anak saya dirujuk kembali ke Soedarso untuk dilakukan perawatan di ruang isolasi flu burung," katanya.
    Menurut keterangan ibu korban, anaknya menderita demam, batuk, sesak napas dan panas tinggi, mengeluhkan sakit pada tenggorokan serta batuk-batuk yang disertai demam.
    Ratna menambahkan, pihak rumah sakit Soedarso juga telah mengambil sampel darah anaknya, untuk dilakukan uji laboratorium, guna mengetahui apakah mengalami penyakit flu burung atau negatif, yang hasilnya baru bisa diketahui, satu minggu ke depan.
    Dalam dua bulan terakhir, sebanyak enam pasien anak-anak terduga flu burung yang telah di rawat oleh RSUD Soedarso dari hasil uji laboratorium terhadap sampel darahnya menyatakan negatif.
    Satu bulan lalu, puluhan ayam aduan (sabung) milik warga Kampung Dalam Kecamatan Pontianak Timur mati mendadak. Melihat kejadian itu Dinas Peternakan dan Kesehatan Hewan Kalbar mengambil tindakan dengan memusnahkan ayam di kawasan tersebut.
    Sebelumnya, Kepala Dinas Peternakan dan Kesehatan Hewan Kalbar Abdul Manaf Mustafa, dari 40 sampel darah yang diuji hasilnya 32 sampel darah itu terdapat ND (newcastle diseaseganas) dan sisanya delapan sampel positif flu burung.
    "Hasil uji laboratorium itu saya terima Senin (21/6). Hingga saat ini pencegahan masih dilakukan dengan memusnahkan unggas yang diduga terinfeksi virus flu burung dan menyemprotkan desinfektan," katanya.
    Hingga berita ini diturunkan tidak ada satupun pihak RSUD Soedarso yang mau memberikan keterangan terkait meninggalnya satu pasien terduga flu burung tersebut.

      Wingki Suspect Bird Flu

      PONTIANAK, Tribune - Wingki (5.7) lying weak in isolation ward of bird flu dr Soedarso, Saturday (24 / 7). The first daughter of Ignatius (26) and Rachael (24), this should get intensive treatment because of cough, high fever and shortness of breath.

      Wingki Suspect Flu Burung

      Sebelumnya, Wingki telah dirawat di Puskesmas Takong. Kabupaten Pontianak pada Jumat (23/7). Oleh petugas medis setempat, Wingki dirujuk ke RSUD Rubini Mempawah pada hari yang sama.

      Entah apa sebabnya, Wingki dirujuk kembali ke RS Santo Antonius. Sehari mendapatkan perawatan di RS Santo Antonius, Sabtu (24/7) Wingki kembali dirujuk ke RSUD Soedarso dan dirawat di ruang isolasi flu burung.

      Dalam surat rujukan dari Puskesmas Takong yang ditunjukkan orangtuanya, Wingki tercatat menderita demam, batuk, sesak dan pesedou membra (+). Ratna menyatakan putrinya mengeluh sakit pada tenggorokan, batuk-batuk disertai demam selama sepekan terakhir.

      Hal tersebut juga dibenarkan Ignasius. Ditanya apakah ia memelihara unggas atau ada unggas yang mati mendadak dalam jumlah banyak di tempat tinggalnya, Ignasius tak sepenuhnya membenarkan.

      "Di rumah tidak ada pelihara ayam. Memang ada tetangga yang pelihara. Di kampung sudah biasa kalau ada ayam mati. Tapi tidak sering dan matinya pun yang saya ketahui karena makan racun yang diberikan ketanaman untuk mengusir hama di padi," kata Ignasius.

      Menurutnya petugasmedis menyatakan sampel darah putrinya telah diambil untuk diperiksa. Selasa pekan depan, hasil pemeriksaan sampel darah baru bisa diketahui.

        Officially there have no human cases of bird flu (H5N1) reported from the Indonesian Kalimantan provinces on the island of Borneo, although the location of 20 human cases reported to WHO in 2009 from Indonesia have never been made public. Recently poultry has been infected with H5N1 in West Kalimantan and several individuals were previously suspected of being infected with bird flu.
