    Case of whooping cough confirmed in Lincoln County

    The Lincoln County Health Department announced one confirmed case this week of pertussis, or whooping cough.
    Health officials are asking the public to be on the lookout for signs and symptoms of pertussis ? coughing spasms that happen repeatedly, whooping sound with cough, or vomiting after coughing spells. Those with symptoms are advised to call their health-care providers.

    For information or to report suspected or confirmed cases of pertussis, call Marci Johnson at 293-4121.

    Fall is in the air, you can feel the change as there is a chill to the night. The time is now to consider your health, the health of your loved ones, and the protection of the community as fall is the time of year that we start to see influenza, and this year of particular concern is an increase in pertussis (whooping cough).

    Nationally, pertussis cases are on the rise. Currently, California is in the midst of a state-wide epidemic of whooping cough. Seven infants, all under two months of age, have died in California. In Montana this year there have already been 34 cases of pertussis reported. In 2005, Montana experienced its worst outbreak of pertussis in the last 50 years. The outbreak began with approximately 84 cases in 2004 and resulted in another 585 pertussis cases in 2005. In 2008, 34 cases of pertussis were identified here in Lake County...

            Flathead Valley Confirms Six Cases Of Whooping Cough

            KALISPELL, Mont. -- The Flathead Valley has six confirmed cases of pertussis or whooping cough. What makes this abnormal according to the Flathead County Health Department is that none of the cases are related. This means there is a likelihood of many more people being exposed to the disease....

                KALISPELL, Mont. -- The Flathead County whooping cough outbreak has grown so much local health workers want the state health department involved.

                "Just last week, we tested several more cases, and one on Friday came back positive," reports Joe Russell, Director of the Flathead County Health Department.

                As of Tuesday,16 cases were confirmed which is double the number from last week. That's because health workers uncovered more cases that weren't previously deemed whooping cough...
