Woman still critical after taking ill in Mexico
LONDON, ONT. ? The trip to Mexico over the Christmas holidays was supposed to be a quiet break in the sun for Su Lyttle and her partner Lynda Young.
Instead, the couple from Eastwood, east of Woodstock, faced a life-or-death situation when Young suddenly became seriously ill with a severe cough and fever and Lyttle needed to rally the money needed for her medical care in a private Puerto Vallarta hospital, where staff struggled to stabilize her enough for the flight home to Canada.
?It was absolutely horror. I couldn?t believe what was happening,? said Lyttle, a Conestoga College employee.
Young, 50, stayed in the Mexican hospital for three weeks before an air ambulance trip brought her to University Hospital in London, Ont., just over a week ago, where she remains in critical condition on a ventilator and in an induced coma...
