With COVID Hospitalizations At Year-Long High, Doctors Urge Minnesotans To Get Vaccinated; ‘We Are Essentially At 100% Capacity’

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Hospitals across the state are making a desperate plea for the public’s help as COVID-19 cases hit an all-time high this year.

It’s considered Minnesota’s fourth wave in the ongoing battle against the virus. But hospital beds are filling up in places they never did before.

... Some 148 patients are hospitalized for COVID at those hospitals. Up from 105 last week. The highest numbers since December.

“We are essentially at 100% capacity, we’ve been that way for weeks,” Haake said.

... Both healthcare systems say that many workers have left due to the stress of the pandemic.

... The availability of staffed ICU beds around the state remains slim, with MDH reporting zero available beds in the northeast region of the state, one bed in the northwest region and two in central Minnesota. In the Twin Cities metro, only eight staffed ICU beds are open across the entire hospital system.

I have searched 10 (ten) on-line Minnesota news media sources, and not one of these have reported today's new Covid cases count.
All they talk about is boosters.
Something is wrong with this picture.

COVID-19 In MN: Feds Sending Emergency Medical Teams To Support State Hospitals During Surge

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Top state leaders on Wednesday announced that medical teams from the federal government are being sent to support Minnesota hospitals during the current COVID-19 surge.

Gov. Tim Walz says the federal government accepted his “urgent request” for emergency staffing assistance, and will now be sending two Department of Defense medical teams.

The emergency staffing teams, with 22 medical personnel each, will be supporting staff at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis and St. Cloud Hospital. They’re expected to arrive next week.

“Hospitals around the state need urgent support, and my Administration is using every tool at our disposal to help them,” Walz said.

... Walz also announced that a third alternative care site will be opening in the Twin Cities next week to further help hospital capacity.
