The highly contagious bird flu that has killed large swaths of poultry across the U.S. has spread to two more Wisconsin counties, bringing the total number of affected counties to 13, officials said Monday.

The virus was found in backyard flocks in both Dunn and Marinette County, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection said. The birds in both flocks will be euthanized to prevent the spread of the disease.

The 11 other counties that have had captive flocks become infected are Sauk, Pierce Fond du Lac, Oconto, Barron, Polk, Sheboygan, Columbia, Racine, Rock and Jefferson, the DATCP said. All of the birds in those flocks have been euthanized, including 2.8 million chickens in a commercial flock in Jefferson County...
