The World Health Organization (WHO) set up an emergency committee, which includes specialists and scientists, to deal systematically and orderly in the emergency by Mexico's epidemic influenza.
However, the Center for Disease Control (CEC), headquartered in Atlanta, United States, which is considered late to try to contain the new type of flu that already felt its impact in Mexico and United States.
Front view of the crisis, triggered the Contingency Plan for North America (up by United States-Mexico-Canada), which aims to build a fence around the suffering in the region.
Richard Besser, director of the Center for Disease Control admitted that the Mexican case is the claim that the increased attention by the number of reported illnesses.
At a press conference, Besser said the CHP was able to determine which of the 14 samples sent to Mexico, seven were positive and equal numbers were negative, but confirmed that it is the same strain of the cases have been recorded in the USA.
So far, reported Besser, there is a team from the Center for Disease Control in Mexico and is expected to know how the situation evolves to make updates while working with the government of Mexico, Canada, and scientists around the world.
Besser but felt it seemed too late to try to contain the outbreak by vaccinating, treating or isolating people.
There are things we see, suggesting that a containment is not likely," he said.
In Geneva, the World Health Organization expressed concern about the confirmed outbreak of swine influenza in the United States and Mexico, but already supports the efforts of the government of President Felipe Calder?n to resolve the emergency.
"To date there have been about 800 cases of an illness similar to influenza, with 57 deaths in the city of Mexico," said Fadela Chaib, WHO spokesperson.
Like the Center for Disease Control, which gave no recommendation to "limit" trips to Mexico, the World Health Organization ruled out for now, activate a quarantine in the country and remains at level three, a scale of one to six, warning of a pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) stated that the government of Mexico has reported three separate incidents related to influenza.
"In the Federal District the surveillance began to realize an increase in cases as of March 18," he said PAHO.
In a communique said that the number has increased to 23 April and 854 total cases of pneumonia, of which 59 have proved fatal.
As explained, in San Luis Potosi have been 24 reported cases and three deaths, while in Mexicali have been reported four cases and no deaths.
Thus, activated the Contingency Plan for North America, which does not represent a high alert on the outside or the restrictions on travel of United States to Mexico or Canada, nor prevented the passage of goods or merchandise.
July Camarena Villase?or, Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), announced that preventive measures have been taken, such as a warning system that can be activated if necessary, to Mexicans inside and outside the country, although the target population are temporary workers, illegal immigrants, travelers and tourists.
