West Midlands confirms 4 more deaths in region, 23 total thus far

Four more people have died from swine flu-related illnesses in the West Midlands region.

The latest figure means the total number of deaths where there have been a positive test of swine flu in the region has reached 23.

NHS West Midlands said the number of people seeing GPs for flu and flu-like illnesses went up to 54.8 per 100,000 in the population from 50.9 last week.

The average number across England is 46.2 per 100,000 in the population.

The number of patients admitted to hospital in the region over the past week was 206, compared to 203 the week before.
