FRANKLIN CO. - The Benton-Franklin Health District has confirmed a human case of St. Louis Encephalitis in Franklin County.
SLE is a viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes and, while it is rare in Washington, the health district said it can occasionally happen due to travel or local mosquitoes.
